Drumchapel pathways

Glasgow’s core paths plan for Drumchapel

Could be interesting to compare the official paths with the residents personal paths. I had been wandering around Drumchapel and I found some nearly hidden paths…some still in use although threatened by territorial policies.

“”As I was walkin’  -  I saw a sign there
And that sign said – no tress passin’
But on the other side  …. it didn’t say nothin!
Now that side was made for you and me! “”

THIS PATH IS YOUR PATH

In Image of the city , Kevin Lynch propose a way to read the city through its paths, edges, landmarks, nodes and districts. With this concepts is possible to draw mental maps and understand the city through  layouts referred to the real usage and navigation in it.  The city happens in the street, the city is experienced beyond its physical structure. The city involves a human network, past and future, traditions and desires, behavior patterns…

Roadways, sidewalks, backlanes, paved and unpaved paths…are talking about connections and relationships. The paths further off driving the walker from point to point are reminders of the growing up place, of the school, of relationships, of shared experiences. The maze drawn by the paths  shows  human  relation with the environment and the built of a neighbourhood.

Could a path be eliminated? probably no unless you eliminate the places around and the people who use them
